The Rest of our October

The rest of October was definitely eventful. This has been one of the most beautiful/warm falls we’ve experienced in such a long time! We’ve been able to get outside for walks with a friend, playing in the yard, skateboarding (Avery is a wonderful skateboarder), hosting a small neighborhood pumpkin carving, a very warm trunk or treat, and then the most breathtaking drive up to Minneapolis before Travis and I flew out to Vegas for our triathlon. Oh and we got our family photos back.

As I mentioned, Travis and I took the most beautiful drive through the countryside, full of fall colors, to get to the airport. The flight overall was not eventful, but after our layover they took our seats (we’d paid extra for them) and gave them to someone else, put us in crappier seats and stuck a little panting farting dog under our seats… we kept gagging the entire flight. But it could’ve been worse!

Travis’s brother, Garett, picked us up and instantly took us to get CAFE RIO! The perfect meal to carbo load in my eyes! The next day we all met down at lake Mead and watched each wave of swimmers begin; I think we had a swimmer in each wave except two of them, so that was fun to watch. Garett, Uncle Lee, and I signed up for a team event so that meant Garett did our swim, Lee did our bike (which was crazy steep ride for nearly the entire 25miles!), and I finished off the 10k run portion. That meant Vaughn, Larisa, and Travis all did the entire race themselves. And Bryce did the aqua-bike… so just no running on his. The run was downhill for the first 3ish miles, and then you turned around and came right back up where you’d come from. So all uphill on the way back. And it was already so hot and dry by the run . I couldn’t believe how awesome everyone was after that bike ride to finish everything out with that uphill run! After our whole family finished the race we set out for food… but ended up helping some of our family who’d locked their keys in their car. So we sat and watched the BYU game in the car while we waited for the locksmith to come. THEN food! Later we had more family show up to say hi (hadn’t see Erin and her family in years!) and then after they left a few of us went for a late night hot tub soak!

The next morning Garett got us to the airport with no problems, the flight was so enjoyable since travis and I were just together, except that I was crying on and off for the flight after travis showed me that one of our sweet dear friends just died from Covid. We was just about to become a first time father and was only in his late 20’s; my heart felt so broken for his wife and unborn son.

So that was our October. Sprinkle in each of the kids getting RSV during the month and that would cover our wonderful month.

Welcome November!
