Halloween celebrations

At our church the young women are in charge of the Halloween party each year, and as the young women’s President it means I get to be in charge of the behind the scenes details. The young women do a great job though and so do the young men for their part. I can’t believe I’m this was my last year being apart of the trunk or treat. It went really well and everyone seemed to have a really good time. We had a great turn out.

Leading up to Halloween we made spooky treats, danced to monster music, and played around with a lot of different dress ups. I had a pumpkin carving party with the young women, and with the family we carved pumpkins the night before Halloween.

On actual Halloween it was some of the nicest weather we’ve ever had to trick-or-treat in. And as a bonus, we were babysitting Baby Baylor that night so he got to tag along with us for the festivities. And as another added bonus, we received a text message inviting us to Gma Eileen’s wedding in one week, to a man none of us had ever met… or heard of. Crazy times, but I’ll just say that grandma did NOT marry this mystery man after all. Thankfully her dementia has aided her heartbreak recovery as she can’t even remember his name! I kid you not.

We celebrated Halloween at the library. They read themed books and then had stands set up with activities and crafts. It was lots of fun. Then we went to the park with a friend and played ghost tag and wished the ducks a happy Halloween.

Each of the kids got to celebrate Halloween in their classes. We went to the YMCA on a last minute invite and got to do a trick-or-treat over there  it was so fun and in a short time the girls were LOADED down with candy!

The day we picked up pumpkins we also bought some holiday cookies and hot chocolate and walked around Clear Lake, just enjoying the weather. Later Treycen joined us and the carving commenced! We then watched a movie after the kids went to bed.

Overall it was a great last Halloween here in Iowa. We visited our old neighborhood, like we do every year. We went around our neighborhood. Sent Baylor home with his dad. Maddix ran the door and candy bowl once we got home. Travis turned on stranger things music and set our house lights to dance in spooky colors, and after that we didn’t seem to get anymore trick-or-treaters! We even  witnessed some younger kids crossing the street away from our house!! Oops.
