~ May in a Nutshell ~

 May in a nutshell…

School wound down until it was no more.

And sports/dance wound up until they were everything!

The girls had their first ever dance recital on the BIG STAGE! Avery got nervous and found a friend in an older girl named, Estella. She was so sweet and looked out for Avery the rest of the night. But once it was time to go on stage the nerves were gone and Avery was READY to go on stage! Addie had been ready the whole time, soaking in the energy of the night. The two of them were GREAT! The stole the show. And afterward they received flowers from the men/boys in our family.

Travis got to go to Blink 182 with Brett and they had a blast!  He also competed in a triathlon and was happily surprised to see the boys waiting at the end with signs to cheer him on! They met up with us at the Bandfest parade, and we watched the band lead in the parade for the last time.

The end of school this year was a hard one. Many tears. It’s hard to end chapters. Even if the next ones are exciting. The kids said goodbye to their schools and their friends. And we set out to enjoy our last summer in Iowa! And congrats to my step brother for graduating high school!

To start our summer out we set out In true Johnson form: to pack as much fun and chaos into as small amount of time as possible! Memorial Day we played Ultimate Frisbee for hours, hosted a bbq in which everyone stayed to rush and clean it up, and then we hit the road to drive all night to reach Utah! Where we spent three days house hunting (more discouraged by their terrible market day after day)! In the end, we felt drawn to a house in Orem, had a miraculous process occur in putting in and getting our offer accepted! So… we bought a house! And sold our house in Iowa all in one day; our house was only on the market for 10hrs, had 6 showings, and 4 offers!

Then it was an overnight drive back to Iowa… where the REAL work began!
