Our First Christmas Season in Utah

December was full of nonstop celebrating, and it’s hard to recount all that we did. So I’m just going to try and remember as best I can the highlights of the month:

  • Celebrated Travis’s birthday
  • Began our seasonal countdown calendar
  • Ugly sweater Christmas party at my Dad and Wendy’s house
  • Ward Christmas Party
  • Orem temple open house
  • Got Johnson family photos taken
  • Caroling and Cookies R.S. Activity
  • Polar express night for the girls with Gma Wendy/ boys to Johnson grandparents for the night
  • Santa reading of the Night before Christmas, hot cocoa, and the Christmas River Boat cruise night with Gma Donna
  • Wells Christmas Party with my Dad’s side of the family
  • Luminaria with my Dad’s family
  • Travis’s work Christmas Party
  • Night of Christmas stories read in the reading nook under the glowing Christmas lights
  • Snowboarding for Maddix and Travis
  • Grinch Roast Feast and Nativity night with the Johnson’s
  • Supported my brother in his military promotion
  • A cookie decorating and dinner night with the Chatterton’s and Hatch’s
  • Cookie decorating with cousin Luke
  • Grinch and Grinch corn tradition
  • Special Baptism Night: Lori’s father, Gpa Cam passed away and Gma Jo gave permission to have all his temple work done. They thought it would be special to have as many people be apart of his work as possible. Travis was able to baptize Maddix, who stood in proxi for Gpa Cam. It was a special night. And on top of that, one of Travis’s family names on his dad’s side was born in… MASON CITY! It was a touching moment to feel so connected to our ancestor, and to wonder if that’s why we felt ties to Mason City.
For New Years Eve we hosted a party. We made tons of food, karaoke for hours, games, talk, and then the New Years countdown in the basement in front of the fire. It was a wonderful way to end such a crazy and big year.
