Avery’s 4th Birthday!

My baby girl turned 4… 4! Four is that age where they most definitely are still little and snuggly, buuuttt they’re most definitely not a toddler anymore, and they’re more little kid than baby! And since she’s my last baby, this is a bittersweet for me. Oh I love this girl.

Avery is a critter. She is just as in tune with her animal instincts as she is with her human ones.

She is a musical genius; I’m not biased. She can sit at the piano and plunk out a song that is actually pleasant, all while singing along. She picks up on a song after a moment of hearing it. She matches pitch so well. And music just runs through her. She dances her facial expressions along with her body to every beat. If she isn’t running somewhere, she’s dancing there; never walks.

Speaking of running, she might be an amazing track runner some day. She is crazy fast, and has great form! And as I said, she never walks anywhere.

SHe has a naturally happy and contented little soul. And almost every single day she will will earnestly find a reason to tell you why THIS is the best day, ever! And she means it. And her joys come in the simplest of ways. Like if her bed is shining in the sunlight, it’s just the best day ever. Or if she gets 10 extra minutes with me doing anything. She LOVES if I play/cuddle her; that’s the sure way to a best day ever.

She is tough and brave and mighty adventurous. She is also feminine, and all girl. She is equally as likely to be found shooting out of our driveway on her bike or skateboard as she is to be found in all our princess dress-ups… often at the same time!

She loves to read, help in the kitchen, clean with the family, go on all outings, play with her siblings, and her puppies… ESPECIALLY her puppies. Being part critter gives her a special love for dogs and animals in general; we all think she’d make a great vet someday… however,  she will tell you she just wants to be mom, just like me when she grows up!! Insert heart melt. We were napping together the other day and she whispered to me, “ when I grow up, I’m going to be the best mom; just like you.” And then kissed my forehead. And multiple times a week she asks when can she be a mom!

The only thing she really doesn’t find pleasure in is mealtime. She hates food; pretty much all of it… unless it’s made of sugar. I take that back, she loves breakfast.  So two times a day she turns into an anti food monster, but other than that she is pretty sweet!

For her birthday this year she wanted a bird theme, thanks to a bird watching day we had. So we made that happen! Her favorite gift by far was her Unicorn bank! She had her breakfast pancakes, birthday nachos, and for dinner she requested… hot dogs: simple tastes, this girl. We went to the library reading time and they sang HBD to her. We visited Maddix at school for their bake sale and she got some treats and a hug from him. He decided to walk to the Nelson’s and say hi since we were right there and they doted on her as well. Her friend Genevieve stopped by and dropped off a gift (and even one for Addie). And her best friend Bug Bug even brought her a big old toy! Then she received a package from another grandparent that was mermaid themed: toy and swimsuit, and she was in heaven. Overall, can you guess? “It was the best birfday ever!”
