Little Man turns "5" !!!

My little guy,
       not so little anymore.
In five years... just five small years my life changed dramatically. And all for the best.
I can't get over how different my life would be without my boys; I am so blessed.
On October 07, 2010 Maddix was born and in 2015 he turned 5!!!!
(When I was 5, I had memories... concretely. I can't believe he's at that point now).
There isn't much this boy can't do, and there isn't anything in the world doesn't he wants to try, do, be, accomplish, visit, see, etc.
This year we did a Pirate birthday party.

There were "X" marks the spots all over the house. We had pirate pouches, (root)beers all around, Pirate songs, and after breakfast we had a very intense game of cannon/balloon shooting!

5 Years Already!

This birthday wasn't without its trials though... for instance, Travis had to work so Maddix was only allowed to open one present at breakfast: And it was clothing. His reaction
"Oh... clothes. I wish it had been toys, not that I don't appreciate my present, I do, thank you... I just appreciate toys more." -Then comes the bored look on his face.
Thankfully the Sister Missionaries came over and saved the morning with a gift, card, treats, and birthday hearts that they taped ALL OVER the front door. They are truly the best.
We LOVE our Sis. "Bat, and Hammer" ;)

Then there was the wonderful letter mailed to him by his friend, Mercedes back in Utah, and ample amounts of birthday cards/calls/texts/messages
And thankfully, his lunch present WAS a toy!
When daddy FINALLY came home the real party began:D
There was much music performed in the way of empty rootbeer bottles and air being blown into them. There was conjoined yells of "arg" and then we ate the beloved birthday pizza, and then...
The long and waited Treasure Chest Birthday Cake!!!

And with the birthday presents the HIT gifts were definitely from Grandpa Cam and Grandma Jo.
We just love our boy so much! And I'm glad his birthday was a day that "I loved this day so much! I wish every day could be my birthday and be just like this!"

LEGOS!!!

And for the record....
Maddix is 42lbs and 42 inches, and in the 56% over percentile.
He can't whistle, but will never stop trying.
He is a deamon on a scooter
and fierce now that he rides a two-wheeler by himself!!!!
He properly informs others of their mistakes, but it's only because he TRULY wants others to do better, NOT because he's being rude.
There is no end to his vocabulary, and his sentences are quite complex.
In homeschool he kicks butt, and takes numbers... math numbers... which he's awesome at.
My days couldn't run as efficiently as they do if it weren't for all his help in picking up the house, playing with his brother,
doing his chores,
playing with his brother,
cheering me up when I am sad,
Playing with his BROTHER....
essentially I feel like I should be more grown up and yet he always takes care of me. Always.
(Example: The day I crushed the stool underneath me and cried on the floor that I was fat... and his instinct was to put his arm around me, say that I'm so beautiful, and then take me to the couch so we could snuggle and would never let me get up until I was happy).
He cares SO much about everyone.
He cares TOO much about winning.
He cares TOO much about being perfect... seriously, cut yourself a break!
He wants to be a: Cop, Worker, Army Guy, Traveler, Airforce soldier, secret agent, the PROPHET, and most of all a husband and father... to MANY children.
His biggest fears: Not being accepted, disappointing his parents and GOD, being left alone and not having a wife and many many children. Other than that he's brave enough to fight a dragon!
He LOVES Isabella from the Phineas and Ferb movie (not cartoons), like loves her.
He plays soccer and giggles the whole way up and down the fields, but does a good job at focusing.
He loves football.
Somehow the world shifted and he is now a DADDY'S boy and NEVER chooses my side!
Tells his brother always that he is his best friend in the whole world. And is affectionately known to Aaron as "Buddy" so that is also what we all call him.
I am not one who looks forward to sending him to school. If I didn't know that he absolutely YEARNS to be in school discovering the world and paving his way... I might just keep him hidden home forever where only I get to laugh at his silly jokes, join in on his creative games, here his awesome stories/dreams, and just love him, for him.

Future Maddix:
Please don't let the world tear you down.
Don't forget that you know God, he knows you, and your biggest ambitions now (and always should be) are to make him happy.
If you want something, don't whine, WORK. and never give up.
Be Kind.
Don't lose your way, and if you do, pray. And call your mom:)
Remember how special you are and that NO ONE can take that from you.
Pain happens because that's life, it's how we move on that is worth remembering.
Don't try to be perfect, be happy with who you are.
And always remember to be grateful for what you have, not what you don't have!!
I love you. Your dad loves you. Aaron ADORES, ADMIRES, DEPENDS, DEFENDS, and absolutely LOVES YOU.
And your father in Heaven loves you.

Please stay my best friend forever?! Because you're growing up too fast...
... Just much TOO fast.
