We had our back to school nights where the kids got to meet their new teachers, see their classrooms/find their lockers, snd for Maddix, try to memorize a whole new school. This year he moved into the middle school (5&6). And Addie got to go meet her teachers and play around in the different toy and learning centers. Mostly the kids were pretty excited for school to start! Aaron, who had been nervous was now excited because his best friend was sitting only a few desks away! Addie started carrying her backpack around everyday and it almost killed her to have to wait nearly two weeks longer than the boys to start school.
For Memorial Day we had our annual ultimate frisbee get to get her, and then had friends over for a bbq that evening.
Travis and I have continued training for the half marathon and have enjoyed Fridays when our little sitter comes over and we get to go running together.
More than anything, we’ve been enjoying our freed up schedules! We aren’t in any sports so we actually have family time back, dinners around the table, and free Saturdays!! Travis and the boys have been loving going out to play ball in the yard several nights a week after dinner and then getting to read with either of us before their newly moved back bedtimes. On Saturdays we’ve been enjoying sleeping in, biking, getting caught up on projects, running errands together, etc. just whatever we want!
While Addie is at school twice a week Avery and I will go to the park with another little friend. Or we will play out in the yard (one day she just laid on my lap on the swing for 40 mins and we just enjoyed being together. We’ve gone shopping just to be together. We’ve gone to the dog park. We’ve just sat on the couch and snuggled while reading snd watching cartoons. I cannot express how much I love our time together. And on the days Addie home we love having her with us! Their favorite day was using their nee rain boots to play in a warm storm!
And we finally got to celebrate Aaron’s very belated birthday party! The night we were supposed to have his party at Roller city, a tornado touched down about 15miles outside of town and everyone was ushered to their basements, or into freezers at stores, gyms ar school, etc. we waited it out with a family movie. Aaron and his friend exercised in the gym area and we pushed back Aaron’s party until we knew when it would be safe to go out. Eventually it passed, minimal flooding and damage around town, and we were able to still have Aaron’s party, just shorter time than orginally planned. The kids had a blast skating around, earning tickets for prizes, and eating some pizza and cake.
Happy 8th Birthday, Aaron!
You are such a bright, positive, and optimistic part of our family. Your heart is gigantic, and next your Brain is equally as big! I have no doubt that someday you’ll be a neurosurgeon like you say you want to me. Or even a scientist. An inventor. An explorer.
Oh I just love you!
