It is a surreal feeling that the day to go pack to Poland is here at our door step. 3 days... 3 days folks. Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited to go back; the pros very much outweigh the cons. But I cannot STAND the idea of traveling another 24hrs, and then taking a few weeks to fight the jet lag once more.
As you can imagine, with such little time left, we made this last week as jam packed with fun events with lots of different friends and family members.
On Monday we were fortunate enough to go visit Travis' Grandma Johnson and Janelle. They played with Maddix and fed us Pie. (Unfortunately I have no pictures)
Tuesday we had a big play date with the Camille's and their kids Maverick, Hadley, and Mattix. We went to Thanksgiving point's petting zoo.
Then later that day we had planned on taking some family pictures as a favor to a friend wanting to test out his camera, but at the last minute he couldn't come so my M.I.L came and took the photos after Travis spotted out the perfect area.
However, I have to mention that moments before we were to walk out the door Maddix pooped. While I was changing it he reached down and pulled his diaper up on top of himself; he got poop up his nose, all over his shirt, my shoe, and all over my hands. Yuck.
Wednesday Maddix was a little tired from his big play date the day before so after his nap he requested to stay in bed while watching Curious George. I was happy to oblige him while I cleaned and got ready for work. Since it was my last night I tried to do something different with my hair:
Thursday was an amazing, beautiful, fun, outdoor day... at least for Maddix and I. Travis on the other had was roofing my grandparent's shed. So while he worked, we played. And boy did Maddix and Nala have SUCH a good time!
There were MANY games of fetch played in their big big yard. |
These two played together the WHOLE TIME |
Then because the roof was taking so long, we ended up just spending the night since my grandparents were out of town. I tell you what. Having a huge kitchen, big cozy couches to cuddle up on, a swing up on the balcony to survey over the yard while reading a book and watching my chitlins (maddix and nala) play was my idea of heaven. And the sun that shone in the morning was serene.
Maddix woke up and instantly insisted on being outside:)
Now as serene as it was, there was a moment when Nala went to the bathroom and while I was getting the shovel I heard Maddix yelling, "mommy help! Yuck!" And what did I find? Maddix had run through it, getting poop all over his shoes and hands. Another fun moment. And while I was cleaning him Nala came and we all got tangled up, causing me to soak my boot with the hose :(
Travis had to go finish his final day of shadowing for the summer so we packed up and went home. While Maddix napped I had a visit from my dear life long friend Vesi, who I haven't seen in a long time! Once we finished and Maddix woke up, we prepared for our last park play date with Maverick. While we were there Maddix was going up the step the ladder with toys in his hands and lost his balance. He fell all the way down (4ft) and landed sideways on this neck. He didn't move. I ran over and he had wood chips shoved all up his nose. He was fine. He rebounded 30seconds later but It was the scariest moment for me!
From the park Maddix and I rode with Camille to the store and to her house where we made dinner and had our last dinner and movie night for the year. Dinner was tasty. The movie couldn't be heard (we used subtitles) over the boys playing... I mean our husbands when I say boys.
The dads had WAY more fun with it than even the kids did. LOVE for toy cars has no age limit:) |
Saturday we took Nala to the groomers. Maddix had a COW that we left her. He was angry at us and kept screaming for her to come back :) We then took Travis back to my grandparents to continue on the shed (it's amazing how much slower you go with a regular hammer vs a nail gun) and then picked my sister and brother up and went to the corn maze that just opened up down the road from our house.
We had so much fun with Uncle Colton and Aunt Tayla! And the rest of Saturday was spent preparing for Garett's Homecoming dinner at Larisa's. I got to be their server, we ate all the leftovers in between their courses, and then after a long night of cleaning it all up we then watched a movie up in Phil and Larisa's theater room.
This morning we had the Temple Dedication for the Brigham City Temple, we're going to have dinner with Travis' family and then dessert with mine, then tomorrow begins a couple of really busy days!
I came across your blog randomly and I love the picture of your hair in the pony tail... I was just wondering.. Did you french braid the front or just a braid pinned back? :)
ReplyDeletewww.studentswife.com
Thank you first off, and yes, I french braided it back and wrapped it around the ponytail. For the ponytail I took the hair on the crown of my head and teased it up before doing the ponytail. Then if you insert a bobby pin into the middle of the ponytail and angle it down (I did this twice) it will give a little extra lift. I really liked my hair that day. I can't take credit however, I saw a tutorial for the basic ponytail on thesmallthingsblog.blogspot.com (I think that was it) and then added the french braid. Wow,overkill with info, yes? I'm curious how you found my blog, do we have a mutual friend? I admit I hopped on your blog to try and find out and saw we're from the same area. Anyway, hope that (more than) answers your question!
DeleteP.s. You have a beautiful family
