HappY NeW YeaR!

First off, I wish I would have recorded this past week separately from this post, so I'm sort of going to do a two-in-one post. This past week has been the best we've had, well, since last week:) Trav's whole break from school is wonderful. But this past week we were able to go out for several walks because the weather has been perfect. In fact, we had so much snow all the way up to Christmas and the day after, we warmed right up and it all melted, not to mention that the sun is shining everyday until it sets at 3pm!
We were also lucky enough to make some wonderful friends named Ania and Arek. They are a couple who come to our meetings more regularly than our members. We really enjoy them. :) But we were lucky enough to be invited for their house for dinner where we met their son, James. They are very healthy, and vegetarian so we didn't have to worry about eating any scary dishes. It was all delicious! We also took a bus to a part of town we've never been, got a little lost, but eventually made our way to a mattress store where we made a purchase of mattress toppers that saved our lives; or at least our backs! Then Sunday Maddix put on his hansom new Sunday out and looked so grown up!
New Years Eve we took a fun walk to the store, fought the battle to buy the food before the stores all closed again, and then we came home  unloaded, and then hopped a bus to the other part of town in search for Cilantro. Maddix and I were quite tired after lunch so Travis left us to nap and when I woke up Travis and the Elders were in the kitchen... cooking:) For dinner we had Cafe Rio! We had to do it again; just had too. We then played games until late, sent them on their way and put Maddix to bed. New Years in Europe is intense. For days they have been setting up a concert stage in town and all night we had spot lights and music bouncing off the buildings to our apt. Fire works went off randomly all night and then at midnight the sky just lit up with the most fireworks I've ever seen in my life. Travis peeked in Maddix's room and found him awake. He said, "Dad, there's fireworks!" So we brought him into our room to watch them with us:
I wish I could have got a decent photo.
This was nothing!

He was in love

The best part was just watching
his reaction and hearing him whisper
"Oh wow, this is cool."
It was a really good night. We put Maddix back to bed and watched the BYU basketball game until we fell asleep. And this morning Maddix was in our room at the rise of the sun, ready to take on the world. Since I was up so early I chatted with family and friends as they ushered in their new year. There you have it.
